- Version 8.28.8-3 is available.
This is a bugfix release; let's forget about 8.29.6 and 8.30.3 for now,
the etch freeze is near and I want to have a stable version that supports (imperfectly, maybe)
as many cards as possible.
8.28.8 has some problems, but at least it allows you to play Doom 3 on R200 hardware.
That's a plus for me. ;)
I'll have 8.30.3 uploaded to experimental as soon as this reaches unstable.
- Oct 25, 2006
- Version 8.28.8-2 migrated to testing.
- Oct 9, 2006
Version 8.29.6-1 is available.
Note that this was only briefly tested because I had to borrow a supported card
from my brother's computer and I could keep it only for a few hours.

- Sep 25, 2006
- Version 8.28.8-2 is available.
I would have liked to upload 8.29.6 straight away, but unfortunately it doesn't support
my 9250 so I'm not able to test it. Let's see what I can do about it.

- I apologize for not answering mails and not releasing new versions,
but during the past month I've been on vacation, then back to work
and I haven't had much time to work on the fglrx packages.
- Aug 4, 2006
- Version 8.27.10-1 is available.
Beware: it installs just fine, but it is mostly untested
(especially the power management stuff)
because the DVI connector still doesn't work on my RV280
so I've been using the X.org driver lately.
Also, people tell me that the problems with R200 hardware are still there;
it looks like ATI is silently dropping support for older hardware...
- Apr 22, 2006
- Version 8.24.8-1 uploaded to unstable.
- Apr 18, 2006
- Version 8.24.8 is available.
This version includes support for X.Org 7.0 and for kernel 2.6.16.
Upgrading from previous versions is quite tricky because libGL is moving
from /usr/X11R6/lib to /usr/lib and I couldn't figure out a completely
safe way to upgrade the libGL diversion. Upgrading should in fact work
just fine, but downgrading to previous versions and recovery from errors
during upgrades are broken.
Therefore, I recommend to completely remove previous versions of this
package before installing. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

- Although the ATI installer can create Debian packages based on my work,
I do not support those packages.
Please stop sending bug reports to the Debian Bug Tracking System
alleging that the official Debian packages are broken because they
don't install nicely over the packages produced by the ATI installer.
You must completely remove the packages built by the ATI installer
before installing the official Debian fglrx packages.
Do not mix official Debian packages and packages from random sources
unless you know what you're doing. It doesn't work.
You can download these packages with apt by adding the following lines
to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
deb-src http://www.stanchina.net/~flavio/debian-official/ /
If you are using the latest APT with signature checking,
get my GPG key here.
These source packages will package the ATI driver version 8.28.8.
Binary packages are not currently available; please build your own.
If you are interested in the latest, greatest and probably broken package source,
you can get it from my git repository here:
$ cg-clone git://stanchina.net/srv/git/fglrx-driver-8.28.8
You can also
browse the repository with gitweb.
