Driver crashing

I doubt this is related to using the DVI output, so you should have 
started a new thread with a different subject.

Does "any OpenGL app" include glxgears and fgl_glxgears?

I'd suggest to try different driver versions: try 3.2.8 which is likely 
the most stable version to date.

If you can't solve this problem, please tell us:
1. driver version(s) you tried
2. card model and manufacturer
3. motherboard chipset
