Re: Welcome and a question: anyone using a digital LCD?

I have a thought.
Flavio, it seems that you'd like to use 1280x960 mode.
That's right for 17" CRT, but wrong for 17" LCD.
Almost all 17" LCD have 5/4 aspect ratio and 1280x1024 as native resolution.
All LCD are typically capable of feeding with non-native resolutions, but
that capability is limitted to most commonly used resolutions like 640x480
and 800x600. I think 1280x960 is not natively supported by your LCD (and
there is no real need for it on LCD).

Try to enable DDC check in driver and use 1280x1024 mode.

The card is Saphire 9600XT FireBlade. The driver is 3.7.6-1

I forgot to mention that my card is a no-brand 8500 LE. I see that both
Jesper and you have had success with a 9600, so there's a good chance
that the problem is the card: I'll ask my brother to bring here his 9600
and I'll try that.

I'll post my config to the list when I get home.

Did you create it with fglrxconfig? If that's the case, you don't need
to post it.

Yes. Actually I created config by fglrxconfig and merged adapter-dependent
part of it into my personal hand-crafted one.

Actually I've seen something related to your problem in Catalyst 4.3 on
Win. There are two options to alternate DVI frequencies or something like
that with comments like "tinker with them if see no picture on your LCD".
Turning them on/off brings no any visible difference on my hardware. IMHO
there should be such options for linux driver too.

Thanks for the help. I'll tell you if it works with the 9600.
