I can't spot any clues in the XFree86 log: it says "DRI initialization 
failed!" but there's no useful information about why it did.

Make sure that the agpgart, intel-agp and fglrx kernel modules are 
loaded (look at the output from lsmod).

If they are loaded but you still don't get 3D acceleration, send along 
the output from dmesg.
