ATI Radeon 9000 IGP on Debian Sid Laptop

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion zv5120us laptop that has the ATI
Radeon 9000 IGP video card (using 128 MB shared
memory). I'm currently running XFree86 4.3.99.12 (DRI
trunk) but still have no 3D acceleration. I've tried
following the instructions at
http://flavio.stanchina.net/debian/fglrx-installer.html,
but I hit problems.

I installed Debian Sid via the Kanotix Bug Hunter 4 CD
and have successfully apt-get updated and apt-get
dist-upgraded to Sid. My kernel is 2.4.25-fe-dm1-ar
from the knanotix cd. I did 'apt-get install
kernel-source-2.4.25' successfully. I think I
configured the kernel source properly. When I do:

fakeroot make-kpkg --apend-to-version "-fe-dm1-ar"
--added-modules fglrx-4.3.0-3.7.6 modules_image

It echos what appears to be a script and the new
package doesn't get created.

If someone could please hold my hand through the
entire process of getting the fglrx drivers installed
and 3D acceleration working, I'd be much appreciative.

Thanks,

BR
