I guess it's a -mm thing; vanilla 2.6.6 works fine here.

If you're willing to browse thru the 2.6.6-mm4 patch and look for the 
change that's causing this, please let me know of what you find and I 
might be able to fix it. However, remember that the ATI driver is 
completely unsupported by the kernel people, like any proprietary 
module, so if these changes break it we get to keep all the pieces.
