I'm sorry but the list is open to subscribers only. That's not how I would like it either, but there's just too much spam floating around these days, not to mention viruses.

Hi everyone,

I finished forward porting the 03-fglrx-3.7.6-regparm patch
and test it [...] and it works for me; I also rearranged
the 04-get_page patch to apply without fuzz.

Thanks for both, will apply.

Flavio, I would suggest applying the rules.diff patch to the debian/rules file, because we do not need to get the rpm every time we rebuild the package; [...]

It won't, unless you do a "debian/rules distclean" or explicitly remove the RPM from the directory.

If you download a new version of the sources, just copy over an existing RPM and it won't be downloaded again. I keep copies of all the RPMs in a backup directory and link them into the source directory as needed.

I still have some a little annoying bugs, [...]
- sometime when i change from X to console and back to console, I end up with some strange colored stripes in the title bar of the active window [...], blurred text [...], and strange colors [...]

When that happens, the screwed-up colors can usually be fixed with:
$ fglrx_xgamma -gamma 1.0

(I have an icon on my desktop doing just that)

Then, if there are any corrupted graphics left, grab any window and drag it over your entire screen to make it repaint: this usually takes care of it. Annoying, but mostly harmless.

- sometime when i switch from text-console back to X, the image is
flickering (looks like bad horizontal/vertical refresh rates), but
if i switch resolution it is corrected

I never saw this and I can't think of a workaround, apart from trying to switch resolutions as you say. Are you using any kind of framebuffer driver perhaps?

- and maybe as annoying as the first one, when i try to quit X
(CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE or which method you prefer), the keyboard and console is locked, [...]

I saw occasional lockups like this, but never when exiting the session. I must say that I almost never use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to exit X.

PS: Flavio thanks for putting together the packages and please accept my
apologies if I should have had to send the patches directly to you and not on the list.

Don't worry, but CCing the intended recipient (me, in this case) in the first place is always a good idea.
