Well actually, this card may be dual head, but I'm only trying to get a single head working, that is the CRT monitor that's plugged in. The other head is DVI and I don't have anything to plug there. The "Standard VGA" device in the XF86Config was generated by xf86config, but it's not actually used. I tried with ChipID and BusID "PCI:1:0:0" and that doesn't change anything. If I use PCI 1, then the X server bails out with no screen found ( no monitor connected to the other head I guess ).
From the release notes[1], maybe could be your problem?

* Screen is blank when launching X on RADEON X800 or FireGL X3"

Judging from the output from X, it says that your primary head is the
DVI-port, and not the CRT. For me it sounds like your problem. Hope it
helps.
