There is the MonitorLayout option which allows you to overwrite the
default detection.
You may want to try
Option "MonitorLayout" "TMDS,AUTO"
Tried that, doesn't work. I tried again yesterday just to be sure, but same result: 'most everything on primary head is reported as "none".
I've saved the XFree86 log in case you might find it useful, should I forward it to you?
