Michel,

I like the "yet" part...

Can we be clued-in as for when Xinerama will be available?

You see, I have 2 monitors at home, one great Sony 21" CRT, and another
not so great Dell 17" CRT.
Without Xinerama, and with the current feature set, I have no option of
having 2 different resolutions.
So, I usually have 2 setups that I alternatively use:
   - 2 monitors, but a pretty bad compromise: both running at
1280x1024, meaning the 21" is under-utilized and the 17" is
over-utilized (50Hz refresh rate, wich, in the US, is really really
really (really?) bad if you have any light on in the room)
   - 1 Monitor, the 21", running at a good resolution and refresh rate,
but I have to turn off the 17" otherwise I get a crappy setup.

Yes, I have the 2 different X servers options, running their own
resolution, but that is not a big desktop...

So..... "We want Xinerama! We want Xinerama ! We want Xinerama ! We want..."

When? Please?

Please ?

With the same card "The other OS that should not be named" has no problem.
The "Other manufacturer that should not be named either" has that...

Thanks for any scoop you can give us.

Doesn't sound like anyone knows anything positive. But, it would be
adequate that it provide the Xinerama extensions to the WMs so that
window placement, maximization, etc. are done intelligently. It's
not necessary for real Xinerama support. I thought that's what the
Nvidia and Matrox Linux drivers did, though I'm not sure.

Also, on an unrelated wishlist note (on the off-chance that anyone
at ATI is on the list), fixing the XVideo support for HDTV
resolutions would be great. It looks like I'm going to have to try
yucky games with a Nvidia GF4 MX440 PCI card and Xinerama in order
to get real-time HDTV + AC3 viewing to work without glitches. If
the fglrx XVideo support was functional at respectable video sizes
(1280x720, 1920x1080), it would just work.

Oh well.
