Hi Flavio and fglrx-ers,
You are a genius but you must know that already. Thanks so much. The
only thing I had to do differently from any of your instructions is
contained in my note
following the system specs. Here they are:
Debian: Sarge
kernel 2.6.8
Xfree 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12.0.1
fglrx 8.10.19-2
Radeon 9550
CPU Athlon 64 ADA 3200+
system [chipset] VIA K8T800 VIA VT8237
FPS ~304

Notes: When installing the fglrx-driver you need to use the
--force-overwrite parameter if you have an old fglrx package
installed for stuff like fgl_glxgears, etc.
fglrx is VERY unhappy with the debug version of xfree (deb package
xserver-xfree86-dbg). I installed it after a successful install of
fglrx. Fglrx was not pleased. I ripped out xserver-xfree86-dbg and fglrx
is happy again.
Please know that your work is GREATLY appreciated.
Cheers from Catalunya,
Jonathan
