Trouble with Radeon 9600 and X.org 6.8.2 on AMD64

Hi,
thank's for the excellent install package, it works like a charm.
Unfortunately, the 3D acceleration does not. Everything goes fine, my
X server start, X -verbose seems ok, too, but direct rendering is not
active:
tst at amd64:~$ fglrxinfo
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.2.1)
tst at amd64:~$ fgl_glxgears
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 131 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
I have a no-name Radeon 9600 with 256 MB of RAM on an Asrock K8
Combo-Z. The CPU is a Winchester Athlon64 3000+ with 2*512MB of
memory. I run the pure64 port with an update to the ubuntu Xorg 6.8.2
server. The kernel is a custom build 2.6.11.
I have attached my log file and my xorg.conf, but I can't find
anything suspicious there. I have tried both internal and external
AGPGART, it does not make a difference.
I will try to downgrade to XFree86 4.3, since I have seen many success
reports with that version. Any ideas what else I can try? Did anybody
get Xorg to work on AMD64?
Thomas
