[Fwd: [Radeon] success, vmalloc]

List, Michel,
I received this message from a fglrx user. He's reporting success in
using the driver, but he's getting an "out of vmalloc space" error that
I never saw and wasn't able to explain. The only information I could
find on the 'net about that error is this thread from 2001:
http://mail.nl.linux.org/linux-mm/2001-05/msg00114.html
And this from a few days ago:
http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0504.0/0648.html
But none of them is conclusive, and anyway they're not related to fglrx.
As Daniel puts it, "Is this something to worry about?"

Hi Flavio,
[...]
One minor issue is I'm getting an error in kern.log about vmalloc failing:
kernel: [fglrx] Maximum main memory to use for locked dma buffers: 929
MBytes.
kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:01:00.0[A] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11
kernel: [fglrx] module loaded - fglrx 8.12.10 [Apr 4 2005] on minor 0
kernel: allocation failed: out of vmalloc space - use vmalloc=<size> to
increase size.
Is this something to worry about? What effect does it have? It would be
great if you could answer this question on the webpage, if you know
anything, as I've seen this question in many forums, but no definitely
good and clear answer.
