fglrx on a Acer TravelMate 8101WLMi (X700, 128MB)

Hi,

I have installed Sarge with the 2.4.27 Kernel and the following fglrx 
packages:

fglrx-kernel-2.4.27-2-386_8.12.10-1+2.4.27-8_i386.deb

The XServer seems to start but I get a Black screen. After setting the 
Option "MonitorLayout" to "LVDS, AUTO" , I can see the login screen of 
KDE but its very dark. The strange thing is that when I press 
Ctrl+Alt+F1 to switch to console mode, while switching I can see a 
bright nice image for a fraction of a second.

I would appreciate any hints,
