Re: News: prebuilt kernel modules

Have a look at crosstool (http://www.kegel.com/crosstool/) it makes it trivial to build a toolchain for cross compilation. As it turns out, we use a x86_64 compiler on an ia32 host for our builds. I don't think I have had any bug reports on the x86_64 drivers (apart from platform specific bugs), so I think it should work for you.

It has the side effect of insulating you from your system as well. (libc and kernel headers are referred to within the compiler fs tree). This means that you can target glibc-2.2.5 on x86_64 on a glibc-2.3 on ia32 host.

Matthew

You certainly could, but, as you say...

Having said that, I have an open offer to build amd64 packages if
someone shows me how to do this cross-compile, and no one has yet...

Same point here. Doing it would not be a problem, even my little server would be able to bear the load, but I don't know how to set up a toolchain for AMD64 on i386.
