DVI ouptut works with X.Org driver

To whom it may concern,
if you read my ATI driver page thoroughly, you might already know that
the DVI port on my Radeon 8500 LE doesn't work with the fglrx driver.
Details are here:
http://www.stanchina.net/~flavio/debian/fglrx-installer.html#bugs
You might also know that recently I switched from Debian's XFree86 to
Ubuntu's X.Org 6.8.2-10. Well, yesterday I tried using the DVI port with
the X.Org driver and... same problem, blank screen as soon as X starts.
However, I thought maybe I could try once more with:
Option "MonitorLayout" "TMDS, AUTO"
...and /pronto!/, X.Org came up on the DVI port for the first time in Linux!
Encouraged by this result, I tried the fglrx driver again with the
MonitorLayout option, hoping that something changed since the last time
I tried, but no luck... I got a black screen again.
Matthew, Michel, you might want to look at what the X.Org radeon driver
is doing differently...
