how about reading further before ranting off?
You haven't seen me rant off. ;)
well, i considered your "How about ..." a rant, but it may be adscribable
to my poor english skills ...
my point was, that your proposal only would affect people reading this
list.
No, it would affect everybody using the packages with the fixed
build-dependencies.
right, as i said first: only people using and knowing of flavio's package.
I fail to see what those have to do with this issue.
huh? they're the root of the evil -- every attempt to find the missing
headers with apt-file or the debian-site is doomed to fail because the
files/indices/indexes(? bad latin but maybe correct english?) used to find
the package containing the both headers undoubtedly yields
"xlibs-static-dev".
and this is wrong.
# apt-file search xf86misc.h
xlibs-static-dev: usr/X11R6/include/X11/extensions/xf86misc.h
# apt-file search xf86mscstr.h
xlibs-static-dev: usr/X11R6/include/X11/extensions/xf86mscstr.h
instead these files are in libxxf86misc-dev (now i get a bit confused -- i
needed 2 packages to install, there was another header, too, contained in
libxxf86vm-dev) and have been there for weeks if not month -- but the
files/indices/indexes do not reflect this.
god natt, jag går hem nu ;-)
