I was browsing through the changelog of X.org, and I found the project 
Xdmx (http://dmx.sourceforge.net/). It is used to combine multiple X 
servers to one screen, usually for video-walls etc. Since the Ati 
drivers have a '2 X-servers mode', I thought Xdmx might be used to 
combine these two servers to one dual-screen display.

I just did a quick test,

Xdmx :1 -display :0.0 -display :0.1

seems to start at least... Have fun exploring this further, and let the
list know what you find. :)
