Console lost...

Hello list !

I don't know, if this is at the right place here, but I give it a try:

I installed the fglrx on my laptop (debian sarge and radeon 9700 mobility),
and the x-server (Xfree86 4.3) works like a charm, the right drivers are
loaded... really cool, thanks for the job you made !

but there is one small problem: I lost my console mode. At start, the screen
freezes pretty fast and don't move anymore in the console mode. If I wait a
few seconds, X start without any problem, but I can't change to another
terminal... quite strange. 

I searched after messages about problems in the logs but didn't find
anything. Did I miss something during the installation, or is it a known bug
that must be corrected by Ati ?

Hope you'll have ideas and sorry if I'm on the false list with this question
!
