one more information concerning all those tests :

after a X session has been messed up (screen unreadable), I can still
come back to the original 1st X session that was fine
but if I kill kdm and tries to restart X (only 1 session) then
everything is again unreadable as if it were the 2nd session

I cannot get X to work again without rebooting (I've tried 2/3 different
setups and also rmmod/insmod fglrx but nothing changed)

this is as if DRI has failed once, then it is impossible to get it to
work again


PS : unfortunately, the one test I forgot to do was to try once again
with dri enabled
...maybe it's getting late, I'll continue everything later
