Are you using multimonitor mode (a desktop and kicker bar for each
monitor)?
I have some problems with window managers (I tried kde 3.3.2,
gnome 2.8 and 2.10). Now I use kde which is the best compromise.
Perhaps, the second screen has desktop ans kicker not localized,
and icons don't maintain the same ordering and position when I
restart KDE... If I copy with konqueror some files the status
window is displayed in the other monitor.
Gnome has problems with the second systray and many little bugs..
Another thing is that you can't migrate a window to the other
screen in any way.. or I don't know how. Does anybody know how?
I am using "big desktop" mode (or something along the lines of that)
and gnome. Basically I have 2 panels streatching across the top and
bottom of the sreens, the same panels cover both screens. Then I can
drag and drop between the screens, but I run into the problems that I
described above where windows like to fill both screens but can only
render on one. I believe with your setup you are actually running 2
seperate xwindows sessions, and they cannot interact with each other,
which is why you cannot drag between the 2. A cross between the
multimonitor mode and big desktop mode would leave us with something
similiar to xinerama, which would be nice, but unfortunatly your stuck
with a choice between the 2, or giing with xinerama and leaving behind
3D support.
BTW the ati config script works well with my dual monitor setup, I
just answer the questions it asks and it works out of the box.
