Where is your Load "extmod"

        # Load "extmod" but omit DGA extension
        SubSection "extmod"
          Option "omit xfree86-dga"
        EndSubSection
        Load "freetype"
        Load "glx"

        Load "int10"

You want to comment out the "int10" (at least that's what I had to do).

        Load "record"

Hi Rick,
A couple of things I noticed about your xorg.conf file indicated above. I don't know if they'll solve the problem but they may at least get you more info.
Cheers,
Jonathan

Jonathan,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried your above mods but X still gets tha same messages (No devices detected). From everything I have read, the "SubSection extmod" line will load the extmod module but omit the DGA extension, but I tried adding a Load "extmod" anyways.

I even tried the xorg.conf generated by fglrxconfig. The results were the same messages in the Xorg.0.log file. As soon as I changed the driver to "radeon", X started right up (without acccelerated graphics). It's as if X cannot find/understand the loaded fglrx kernel module.
