I noticed that the files

/etc/fglrxprofiles.csv
/etc/fglrxrc

were missing on my system, and this was the reason that glxinfo reported
only Mesa drivers. I uninstalled Flavio's packages, and installed the
official ATI package, which contains these files. I had done this a
hundred times, but this times it just worked! Well, I'm not complaining.

Never saw those two files and never had them on my system, AFAIK. And I can
tell you 3D acceleration works, in case you're wondering. ;)

Yes, those files definitely aren't required for 3D acceleration, must
have been something else.
