I am running Debian testing and recently updated to Xorg from XFree86

latest Xorg 6.8 rpm from ATI (8.18.6) and installed it.
It might be better to install .debs generated from the installer
instead.
I reset the xserver and everything loaded fine, except when I ran
glxinfo I find that direct rendering is not on and subsequently 3D
accelerated programs will not run.
The output of
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose fglrxinfo
should be a good starting point.
