DualHead: Console-Login->Black Screen

Hello people.

I am using a Dual-Head setup to use my external monitor and the LCD of my 
Laptop (IBM Thinkpad T40p). I use KDM as login-manager. When I click 'console 
login' instead of login into kde in kdm, the screen just remains dark - I 
don't see the login-prompt of the console.

I used fglrxconfig to create a working setup for my Dualhead-configuration. 
The card I use is a Radeon Mobility 9000, fglrx is version 8.16.20, kernel 
2.6.11.9, xfree86 is version 4.3, base-system is a Debian Sarge.

Anybody knows how to get the console back working?
