Fwd: FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.11.231005/misc/fglrx.ko): Operation not permitted

Dear Flavio,
the problem mentioned in my previous post (please see forwarded message
below) was mine own and quite trivial. I had modified XF86Config-4 but not
xorg.conf (6.8.2 reads xorg.conf and not XF86Config-4) and I had a "radeon"
entry in my /etc/modules.
After replacing "radeon" with "fglrx" in /etc/modules and copying XF86Config-4
to xorg.conf I can successfully use the ATI driver.
Thanks a lot for the excellent work and for the detailed documentation !
The only problem which is left is resume after suspend (alias Fn-F4, sleep).
At resume the system completely freezes. This is quite annoying since I
systematically use suspend. Fn-F3 and all other hotkeys work perfectly.
If you know how to circumvent the problem, please let me know.
ciao,
Nicola

Hello,
I am new to fglrx.
I have installed the packages and built with the supplied make.sh script
according to section 4.1 of Flavio's instructions on an IBM T41p with a
custom kernel 2.6.11 and Debian 6.8.2.dfsg.1-7 20050908031534. My
kernel options fulfill Flavio's recommandations of section 2.1.1. I have
installed the kernel module.
At this point modprobe fglrx reports:
root at lt28b:~# modprobe fglrx
FATAL: Error inserting fglrx (/lib/modules/2.6.11.231005/misc/fglrx.ko):
Operation not permitted
root at lt28b:~#
I cannot fing fglrx related entries in dmesg. Here is the lsmod output:

I have nevertheless modified XF86Config-4 according to section 5 and
stopped / restarted the X server from a virtual console. Here is the outcome
of fglrxinfo:
root at lt28b:~# fglrxinfo
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".

OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.2.1)
so I guess there is some problem here. Any idea what the problem could be and
how to solve it ?
best regards,
Nicola
