Hi,
and for everyone with similar problem (no 1400x1050)
I finally could re-enable 1400x1050 by following the advice of Michel Dänzer
(thanks, Michel!) and I specified a separate ModeLine in the Monitor section
of the config file.
How can you create a good ModeLine?
For example, start up the server with any driver that gives you 1400x1050 (I
used the DRI radeon driver for that because I didn't have the previous working
fglrx packages around any more) and run "xvidtune" in a terminal (with a
proper DISPLAY value - e.g. :0) where you adjust settings until the screen is
good for you (I didn't have to change anything) and finally press "Show"
button. It will display the modeline to insert into the X config file, just
put "ModeLine" at the beginning of the line and that's it.
My line looks like:
ModeLine "1400x1050" 108.00 1400 34208 34320 1688 1050 1050 1053 1063
Best regards,
Csani

cause laziness, i didn't recompile my own kernel-module.
to get a proper system without a version-conflict i tried the latest
version 8.16.20-1 but with this i cant startup the xfree system,
cause the get "no screen found" ? and it dies.

btw: does there know somebody how to get the synaptics touchpad
known as first mouse on psaux if a usb-mouse is connected? cause if
the usb-mouse is connected on startup it get detected as first mouse
on psaux and of course this is not a synaptics touchpad ;)
