DVI output problems

Hello,

I decided to give 8.18.6 a try to see if I could get it to work with DVI
output, having given up with earlier versions. I have only partial success.

I have a generic Radeon 9200SE connected to a flat panel monitor via
DVI. The system is an AMD Athlon XP 2400 running Debian
(testing/unstable) with X.org and kernel 2.6.12.

Previous versions of the driver worked well for CRT displays, but with
DVI the screen went blank (and seemed to go into suspend mode) as soon
as X started. I could not recover from this except by rebooting.

With 8.18.6 it works slightly better: By using
  ForceMonitors "tmds1"
I get a picture on the monitor.

However, the resolution is only 1024x768 (instead of 1280x1024 as
before). Inspecting the X log files, it seems that the EDID information
the the driver displays is all wrong. All the values seem to be bogus
(manufacturer, model, display size and supported resolutions), and are
different from what I get with the "radeon" driver.

If I try to correct the values by specifying hsync and vsync manually, I
again get the blank screen. However now at least I can switch to a
virtual console and the monitor wakes up again.

I can send my xorg.conf and log files, unless someone knows a quick fix.

Thanks,

Marcus
