modpost go to hell! :)

I did also notice a modpost in kernel-kbuild-2.6 but what the ...? I
didn't have to mess with all these under (and up to) 2.6.13...

BTW if it is relevant: I'm also trying to compile alsa-driver at the
same time and that gaves me another no such file or directory:

  CC [M] /usr/src/modules/alsa-driver/acore/hwdep.o
/bin/sh: scripts/genksyms/genksyms: No such file or directory
make[7]: *** [/usr/src/modules/alsa-driver/acore/hwdep.o] Error 1

How can I get through with 2.6.14? Any ideas anyone?

Yes, I encountered the same errors with 2.6.14. I think there is
something strange happening in the new Makefiles. Up to version
2.6.13.4, the modpost binary was compiled if you just did
make-kpkg configure, from 2.6.14 on it is built only when you do
make-kpkg kernel_image. That is quite annoying, but works.

Oh, noo. Does that mean that I cannot create (add-on) module packages without
having to compile the whole kernel first?!

...could this maybe be adjusted to in linux-image files? They could ship a
modpost (and whatnot else) for that purpose... or make make-kpkg linux-headers
-aware...

Thanks for the hint anyway - I could finally build the fglrx package.
(Although 3d is still slow like a snail - but that's a different topic, I'll
have to look into it.)
