AFAIK, the 8.18.8 minor update was released exactly to fix this problem
and 8.19.10 is *definitely* meant to fix this (see the release notes).

I don't think Tobias' problems are caused by this; unfortunately, I have
no clue as to what the cause could be either.

 

I have specifically installed the 8.19.10, but have the same problem as
with the native ubuntu(8.16...) version. My log looks the same as with
Tobias for the drm* part, and

"glxinfo gives "libGL error: drmMap of sarea failed"", said in my
earlier post. Citing the changelog:

"– The latest proprietary driver introduces a resolution for drmMap
failures on 64bit NLD9 SP2 and 64bit Ubuntu Breezy distribution,
resolving an issue that prevented 3D acceleration." This surely seems to
me as being a "drmMap failures" issue. Could there be something else
wrong with my installation? Should I post my particular log?
