ATI installer tampering with /usr/share/fglrx ?

A few days ago I tried launching the ATI installer. Some time later I
looked into /usr/share/fglrx for other reasons: it contained a couple of
files that I'm sure I didn't put there and the diverted libGL from
xlibmesa-gl had disappeared.

Note that I launched the installer and asked it to produce Debian/sarge
packages, but I *didn't* install the packages.

Did someone else see that? Or maybe someone from ATI can check?
