In attachment I've included my xorg.conf in both modes. I use a notebook

With the dual head mode there are no problems.
With big desktop mode the driver creates a framebuffer of 2560x1024
pixels but the first display uses an height of 800 pixels. The desktop
manager recognizes correctly the two displays (gnome and kde tested) but
the mouse in the first screen can go down overriding the 800 pixels of
heigth and creating some corruption, but it's not too annoying.
If Ati could fix these bug.. Where I can report them?

When I was working on big desktop mode with my Radeon 7000 (and the
free driver), I had the feeling that this is the way big desktop is
supposed to work. Because the big desktop is 2560x1024, your mouse can
be in any place of this desktop. There is some hinting support for
"avoiding" the invisible areas, but it did not work very well (at
all?) for me. My advice is certainly to match the vertical resolution
of both screens.

The other option I have found is to move the view point with the
mouse. At least for the free driver this works for both screens (even
with different resolutions). It sounds very clever, although I could
imagine that it can also be annoying in certain cases.
