System Problems after Kernel Update
- From: Tucker Hermans <thermans at bowdoin dot edu>

I just updated my kernel to 2.6.15.1 from 2.6.13.4 because I bought a
TV-Tuner card and needed to install the drivers, but that is another story.
I rolled the kernel from scratch and installed it using make-kpkg. I
then set up the kernel driver with make-kpkg and after dealing with many
errors occurring because of the transitionary state of fglrx packages in
Testing I finally reinstalled the binaries from Flavio's site. I
restarted X and everything was working fine at first, but then I started
seeing a marked decrease in certain programs. A couple times commands
would not end when run in Konsole, they would finish output but never
relinquish control; no new prompt would appear. In addition Firefox
would not launch after running a couple other programs.
I restarted the computer with the old kernel running and all
applications worked fine.
I then restarted the computer with the new kernel and things seemed to
be working but after playing UT 2K4 mozilla stopped working.
I then found a large amount of errors from dmesg, which I do not know
quite how to deal with. An example follows.
