First, let's make it clear that this is a concern only on amd64.

The old installer package build-depends on ia32-libs, but
a) as far as I'm concerned, it's obsolete;
b) binary packages built from it do not depend on ia32-libs anyway.

The official packages do not build-depend on ia32-libs, but I don't have
an amd64 box at my mercy so I didn't test if they build and install fine
on amd64. Did someone test that? Is the build-dependeny on ia32-libs (or
something similar) still required?
