Let me understand, does this happen if you try to install
fglrx-kernel-src or if you try to install xserver-xorg 7.0? Do you
actually want to install xserver-xorg 7.0, or are you trying to avoid it?

Which xserver are you using currently?
xserver-xfree86 on sarge?
xerver-xorg 6.9 on etch?
Others?
